sinv*cosu - cosu*sinv is a difference formula. sin(u-v) ≡ (sinv*cosu) - (cosu*sinv) so, sinx*cos20 - cosx*sin20 ≡ sin (x - 20) for the next mark, we can use what we've done so far to solve for x since it is stated that: sinx*cos20 - cosx*sin20 = 4/9 since sinx*cos20 - cosx*sin20 = 4/9 then, sin (x - 20) also equals 4/9, so we can use our inverse trig functions to solve for x. x - 20 = arcsin(4/9) x = arcsin(4/9)+20 So, x = 46.4° and x = 180°-46.4° x = 46.4°, 133.6°
