Use an exacto knife on the opening to cut a line between the lid and the box. The paint is probably connecting the 2 pieces together keeping it closed ( Acrylics tend to do this ) just cut between the 2 pieces so they aren't stuck anymore :) next time painting, try keeping the box open or the pieces separated before painting and keep it like that till its dry to prevent it from sticking so much.

Consider taking an emery board or a piece of very fine grade sandpaper to file down the surface areas which are currently sticking. Do this sanding in areas which will not be seen, like the edge under the lid. Take your time, removing only a little of the snagging paint surface before testing the box and lid closure. May take time but the result will be worth the effort. Good luck with your project, and enjoy the colorful box.
