For an answer you will need to specify which aspects of Garageband you feel need improving and what you consider affordable. The next step up is Logic Pro X or Live.... http://www.apple.com/logic-pro/ https://www.ableton.com/en/live/

Fruitloops and Ableton Live. Just download it

Hi, There ABSOLUTELY is ... How's free sound? ... There are some VERY free studio quality production programs available for the cost of dloading and burning a blank CDR. Go to www.distrowatch.com and search for 2pecific "distros" ... "dyne:bolic" and "ArtistX" ... They are both CDR/DVDR disc images that can be burned onto a blank disc, then You simply remove Your harddrive (for safety sake since You're not Linux-skilled yet), set Your computer to boot from the CD drive, and let it load ... You will then be in a completelky Linux OS with several (many) very good studio production programs ready to go. If You like any oparticular design better than the other (there are also MANY more "distros" available, You can pick up a second harddrive used for about $25.00US and install the Linux OS permanently without giving up Your Windows license for the system. G'Luck!!
