Hmm....use it as a trade in.......or donate it for the tax credit. Don't invest 4k on a 14 year old car...if it is a 2001 that means it was new in 2000. You could look into small claims court, depending what your bill of sale says.

These have the Jaguar engines in them. There are at least two used engines on ebay for around $1300. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=2001+lincoln+ls+v8&_sop=16 Check with a junk yard to see what they would give you. The transmission is worth 500. The wheels and tires 200-300.

Reminds me of an old "Leave it to Beaver" episode. Part the thing out. A lot of people look for LS parts since it was basically a Jaguar in Lincoln trim/sheet metal. Jaguar parts bring major money. Don't look at at that car as a whole, look at it like it is 4 rims/tires, headlamps, tail lamps, power seats, so on and so on. You've got a lot of valuable parts in that junk car. Sell the body metal door by door and let the buyer remove it. If you have a garage where you can store it, you can make profit on that car. Piece by piece.
