You do not need to be married to procreate and it is not the purpose of "marriage". Marriage is something created by society and government. It's purpose is so that there is a "recognized union or legal contract between spouses that establishes rights and obligations between them and their children, and between them and their in-laws." Usually, only religious people will tell you it is wrong to have children out of wed-lock. Obviously, this is more of a personal choice based on your beliefs. But, it is not necessary.
