Most cancers seem to require certain genetic traits or mutations, along with exposure to some sort of chemical. However, the specific chemicals that cause most cancers are generally unknown. There is no way to track the amount of exposure to the various chemicals people encounter over their life span, which makes it virtually impossible to confirm or reject the conclusions the doctor has made in his book. It is true that exposure to certain chemicals is linked to increased cancer risk but most chemicals known to increase cancer risk are not chemicals that occur naturally in the foods we eat. What you are facing in the doctors book is a half-truth. If everything was as bad as the doctor says in his book, then you would be doomed to getting cancer no matter what you do, so there would be no point in trying to avoid things that cause cancer. All you can do is to minimize exposure to things that are known to be carcinogens - mostly organic chemicals in foods and in the environment that do not occur naturally, and chemicals in foods that are created by frying. If you buy organic foods and do not fry them, the foods you eat are will contain as few carcinogens as is possible.

I am NOT a doctor but I believe it has something to do with food as well. Most of the cases may be due to different chemicals. But, I do believe GMO food and canned or preserved food plays a role if you are eating them too much. Eat fresh organic food. That is good for health. Canned or preserved food means human beings have modified the natural product.

Hi Micheal, not to worry, that nutritionist doc is slightly getting carried away. Your parents or grandparents would know best, of course if we could all eat organic food it would be far healthier. Its great to see you're looking into what you eat at your age, yes there is chemicals in foods today and our bodies can cope with some much, generally a little bit of common sense in this area helps. LOL tell your dad to stop laughing
