Traditionally, Christmas wasn't one day. It was a span of time that begins with the first Sunday of Advent (the 4th Sunday before Christmas day) and ends on January 6, The Feast Of The Epiphany, the day the Wise Men arrived and presented their gifts to the baby Jesus. Christmas time begins on the first day of Advent (the beginning of the low-key countdown), reaches a religious peak on December 25 (the birthday) and winds down to January 6 (the Epiphany) and gift giving. Unfortunately, the economy now dictates how we live our lives and there's no way that Christmas is going to be allowed to last for the 12 days between Dec. 15 and Jan 6. If you return to school and/or work tomorrow, you'll be returning on the last day of Christmas. Modern economies dictate that Christmas is one day, December 25. (Greek and Russian Orthodox Christians are really left out of things because they are still on the old calendar and celebrate Christmas and the Epiphany a week later than the rest of Christianity.)
