By landline is the number one way they can trace you.

Unless the pizza place records all of their calls, or the police were already recording their calls for some reason then no there is no way the police can listen to the conversation. The telephone company does not record calls, but they do collect the now famous metadata that will tell the police that your number called the pizza place's number at a certain time to within seconds and how long that call lasted.

A certain chain absolutely records all telephone calls, so it's possible that they do have your conversation. They also could be saying that to get you to confess. It's your gamble, but you might want to review what you said and possibly get legal advice.

IF it was recorded at the time, and they have a legal subpoena for that recording, then they can get the recording. If it was recorded, then it would be the pizza place doing the recording. If it was not recorded, then there is no way for them to listen to the conversation.
