Yes it is but the Supreme Court struck down that ability in its decision against Montana and the congress and senate don't want to override it through legislation for all states. The state rights of a given state lost in that decision...you should have said this was only a British question!

I think that Labor Unions should not be allowed to donate without 100% approval of all union members. Labor Unions get their money for the union members in the form of union dues. Churches should not be allowed to donate period. Other then that I'm ok with people donating as much as they wish.

Whilst I see merit in the sentiment, you need to be careful what you wish for......... The last thing you need is state funding of political party's...........I don't want my money going to them......but worse is the risk to independent politics.........I.e. Do we want those who pay to have a say....?

In the US we had a law like that until the supreme court struck it down. We need an amendment but the crooks in Congress would never vote for it.
