boys MUST be taught to cook! When you move out and don't have mom and sis to cook for you, you may starve! Most girls now do not have a clue as to what or where a kitchen is let alone know how to use anything in it!! get a copy of Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book and at least read it. Choose some things in it you would like to cook and surprise the family by making dinner some time.

It's always a good idea to learn new skills. Ask to cook dinner some night soon, under their supervision. If they use cookbooks, do some reading in them. I also think it would be helpful for you to watch some cooking shows on TV, too, so you have an idea of how things go together. As a previous answer said, you don't want to be totally helpless in a kitchen when you move away from home. I have been the primary home cook in my family for 35 years or so, and the skill has been so useful.

No, it's not bad, there are lots of grown adults who don't know how to (and don't care to) cook. If you want to learn, you should just ask your mom and sister to start talking you through it and having you help when they are cooking so you can see what they're doing, and if they don't want to, just pick something you want to cook and look up how to cook it online. You'll learn in no time, and you can keep learning as you go! Good luck!

It's not bad. You were never taught. Buy yourself a good cookbook. If you can read and follow directions, you can learn to cook. Make sure the cookbook you get has a large list of cooking terms and definitions. Learn the ones you don't know, such as braise, fold, blanch, cream, and pare. If you learn the different cooking terms and techniques, then, when you come across a recipe using one of them, you will not be afraid to try it.

Not really. I have known a few people that didn't allow their kids to cook because they didn't want to clean up the mess. Cooking is easy, you just need to familiarize your self with cooking terms, and you can find a lot of useful videos on youtube.
