It doesn't matter since there are so few units left in existence. Neither format is worth investing in at this late date.

Who cares. You are not going to find them readily available at your local electronic store. You are going back to the 70's technology, watching that on an HDTV today will be very very disappointing. Hope this will help you out.

No one is making any Betamax VCRs anymore, the last one was made for sale in Japan in 2002. And, the last separate VHS machine was built in 2007. The only new VHS machines that you can buy now are combo machines with a DVD player built in, and they're very, very cheaply made.

1975 called, they want their Betamax/VHS question back. Like AVDADDY said, this is so old it doesn't really matter. Both belong only in a museum, neither should be in use today. And yes, Betamax was better than VHS but it still lost the format war. mk

It was higher resolution so yes but that had nothing to do with which one was successful.
