For a first car, Audis are fairly expensive to maintain. Routine stuff like oil changes aren't so bad, for it does love synthetic. However, when things go, its not the parts, its the labor, because it is often hard to get at things. There are times when I am working on one of my later model Audis I will swear "I wonder what the engineers were thinking, " followed by a choice expletive. The Q5 is the mid-sized cross-over, and the A4 is the mid-sized sedan.

The first car usually gets the most abuse as the driver slowly learns to handle it better and care for it. As expensive as maintenance is and as complicated as its engineering is, I would not choose Audi. Get something you can beat up that doesn't cost so much and is more reliable and rugged.
