Automatic is great if you want the ease of operating the car and don't want to learn driving a Manual transmission. I like manual, it's fun.

It's all a matter of preference. Personally, I only have manual cars.

It depends who the driver is. An auto transmission has the following features: -- ease of operating a vehicle, no skills are required to match gear and car speed. Generally for a person who needs to drive, not one who wants to drive. Left leg is resting all the time. -- have cruise control, therefore right leg can be resting some of the time during highway cruise. -- higher fuel consumption of approx 35% for the same car with manual transmission. -- any idiot can learn to drive a car with auto trans. Generally, when one gets tired of driving in traffic jams, a car with auto trans will be a benefit. Hope these simple facts can help you to choose. Happy motoring.

Automatic transmission is a great choice..
Answer #5 | 30/12 2013 05:37
Automatic is better for stop and go traffic so you don't have to constantly shift gears. Manual is more fun oriented and is good for highway driving and twisty roads. Manuals also get slightly better fuel economy. So it depends

"Best" is subjective. There is no right nor wrong answers...only differing opinions. Personally I prefer manuals and all my cars have had standard transmissions. Going forward in the future, I will continue to buy manuals unless something unforeseen happens to change that.

I'll start off by saying that I love to drive vehicles with a standard (manual) shift. If you want to have the ultimate connection between you and your vehicle, that is the way to go. That being said, it is hard to make a case for a standard shift in this day and age. -Depending on the car, you will find it harder to resell. -Unless you drive for economy, you will do better with a modern automatic. -Some 4 wheel drive vehicles using computer controls have more functionality in the automatic models. -If others are driving the car, they either can't or will burn the clutch for you. (Goes for you too!) -A pain in hi traffic congestion situations. -More expensive for maintenance. BTW, having a standard shift roes not preclue criuse control.
