802.11ac is known as gigabit WiFi. While it will provide extremely high speed WiFi connections, even 802.11g, let alone 802.11n, is faster than most internet connections. The biggest advantage of 802.11ac is that it uses the 5ghz band instead of the 2.4 ghz band. In order to take advantage of it, however, you would also have to have a router which supports that protocol as well, requiring an additional purchase of a new router. Is it worth it? To someone who does a lot of local file activity on their local network and/or has a number of machines all using WiFi and who has the money sitting around with nothing better to do with it, sure it is worth it. To someone who has to choose between $500 for a better screen and faster WiFi or paying their electricity bill for the next 5 months? Probably not.
