Considering every child pout of school wants to be a web designer or programmer there is not much work around. You will also need to learn the mysql database, and javascript. And to a very high standard. You will be VERY lucky if you ever manage to earn enough from it to live on.

It all depends on how much effort and dedication you put into it. But whatever happens, don't get discouraged by people who enjoy discouraging others all the time. Good luck!

Hi, HTML and CSS are defiantly essential and fair easy to learn/play around with. once you feel comfortable try having a look at javascript/jquery next as that's client side scripting youl need to know a little of this to interact with the back end anyway. this is what i used to help me https://tutsplus.com/course/30-days-to-learn-jquery/ was great and broke it all down into small components to take in each day. There DEFIANTLY IS work out there. I work full time for a company doing all types of programming and then self employed over weekends as a web developer. my problem is not having a enough time to do it all. if you are serious do some smaller sites for people you know like family friends who just want a site to show off their business. this will give you some REAL experience and also a project or 2 for your portfolio so when you do finish school and approach people you can show them what you have made. no one will hire you without seeing what you can do first so you have to sell yourself short in order to make an impression.
