since your pain lasted for a long time it is better to see a doctor , if you wait any long the time taken to recover will be more than 5 years , i had ligament fracture in my right ankle and only waited for 3 days to make sure it is a problem and it has been 2 years , doctor says need 6 more months for full recovery , ( my ligament fracture was a bit severe , but still it is better for your health to consult a doctor.
