The account that the debit card is linked too which is also where your funds are.

Your bank account - unless you have what is called a prepaid card. Most debit cards are linked to a bank account - when you use the card to make the payment, the money is taken immediately from the bank account (unlike credit cards, where they loan you the money and you pay it back at the end of the month). You can get prepaid cards where you load a sum onto the card, and can then use the card until that amount is used up - but they are not common.

Debit means the money is taken from the account that your card is linked to. Unlike Credit Cards, which means that you are buying on credit (borrowing from the bank for that month until you pay off).
