Alphanumeric FAA designators like 6V6 do not meet ICAO designator standards - ICAO airport designations are all letters. Airports with alphanumeric designators do not have control towers or weather reporting, so there is no need to make them conform to international standards

Friday Harbor in Washington State has two codes: KFHR and W33. 'K' is usually put for airports in the lower 48 states, but an airport with 'W' is usually a water airport
