If you have an old ps3 and its at fw version 3.55 or less ( which is required ) , and you never play any games newer than 2010 sure , its safe . but if you jail break it and try to play a newer game that installs an update from the disc your ps3 will be bricked . you'll lose the ability update the fw , play newer games , play online , buy add-ons , update games to patch bugs and won't get the features added after fw version 3,55 such as 3d for movies , netflix , psvita integration , psn plus and so on so in the end you will have a ps3 that is offline only and plays only old games you can buy used for next to nothing just to get a few old gamed for free ? Not smart in my opinion , and again if you have system software version ,366 or later you can;t jail break anyway . Why even buy a game console if you can't afford games and want to steal them by piracy anyway ?
