Yes definitely make the first move, guys are scared of doing it most of the time. When you go in for the kiss than gently caress his teeth with your tongue and stroke the side of his cheek with your hand.

Go with the flow until he gets out of control. It is your job to set the limits. Do what fells good we all like different things and ways to kiss. Just do back to him what he does to you until you have enough experience to know what you like.

When it comes to first kisses, especially if it is your first kiss ever, I would let him make the first move and take the lead, and you just mimic what he does. I'd imagine it wouldn't be a french kiss for the first time so just keep your lips soft and slightly parted. DON'T PUCKER. Practice pursing your lips fully and just slightly, a good way to gage the pressure is pressing your lips to the back of your hand. If it is a french kiss, let him come to you, keep your tongue moving (touching his and moving away and touching his and moving away) and swallow periodically. Vary from the tip of his tongue and further back. I think before my first kiss I looked at the WikiHow page, but I've checked and there are also quite a few youtube videos that are helpful. At the end of the day, don't over-think it. Kissing is natural and really fun, it's an instinct so just trust your body to know what to do. Don't forget to shut your eyes and put your arms on his shoulders/neck/back. Also, keep it nice and slow for the first time, you don't want to accidentally bite him! Use lip balm/chap stick and not lip gloss as it can be too sticky. Don't worry too much about breath, from my experience mouths tend to simply taste warm unless you've just eaten something strong like onions, garlic tuna. Carrying around polo mints or breath spray would be a good idea though if you are unsure or don't want to risk it. Good luck! :)
