If you are in the u.s., employers may not make hiring decisions based on race, gender, religion, national origin or, in a few states, a few other categories. No state has a law that prohibits making a decision based on your history of committing crimes. Such a law would be absurd and I don't know any legislature that would even consider such a law.

A felony will stick with you the rest of your life. They technically can't say outright that they are not going to hire you due to the felony, but they don't have to hire you either, it is their business.
