That budget will only let you get a new entry level DSLR. They are all approximately the same quality so you can't make a mistake. Perhaps the most capable new one is the Nikon D3200... Nikon currently has the edge on low light ability so will be slightly better indoors. If you get an older D5100 you will get more features and an articulating LCD screen. To get a Canon of similar quality you need 650D, or Pentax K50, Sony A57

under you budget you recommend you to buy Nikon D3200 DSLR, the Nikon D3200 features one of the best sensors available in the world today.... You can also take a look at Canon 100D / Sl1 DSLR which features hybrid CMOS AF II sensor .

I'd say go wtih Nikon D5100 or 5200 as they are both good ones. With Nikon u get maximum range of Lens and works well for years. Canon and Sony are hype. sony never have any legacy of building camera but only recently started. in optics, experience matter. Canon entered camera business only with digital age. Nikon was in business long before Digital cameras and thier experience in building cameras are unprecedented.
