It sounds like they are not going to press charges. I would just relax if I was you. There are easier ways to get items from Walmart if you need them. For example, they offer a $100 free gift card. You could have used that to get the items without having to steal

If they said you would get a "fine," they lied to you. You cannot get a "fine" unless you go to court and are convicted of something. If they did not call the police, it is highly unlikely that any charges will be filed. You don't get court orders in the mail--you get court orders in a court. What you may get in the mail is a civil demand. That has absolutely no legal effect. All they can do if you ignore it is sue you in small claims court, where they would be limited to a $500 recovery unless they could prove a greater loss (and they can't). It is almost never worth it to a retailer to pursue a small claims action, so most of my colleagues recommend that you ignore any civil demand.

If you were going to steal you should have made a run for the door, by law they're not allowed to chase you outside the store. But here I am encouraging aren't I? Any way, no it will not go on your record just the fine.
