Happy New Year, Thomas! You should have been more courteous. As you have noted in your post, your brother's marriage is, and was, his business; however, by describing your brother as the "victim" of their marital woes, your refusal to refer to her as your former sister-in-law and by not sticking around for to recognize you and return the greeting, you've demonstrated that you have, in fact, taken sides, and it's definitely not in her favor.
