It is never too late. You should learn IT expected coding and other matter yourself and gear yourself up for the IT job. ask some friends what they do in IT and join.

That isn't to radical of a change. If you have a bachelor's in engineering, you could always take an extra year and get the masters of engineering degree, which is more of a management of engineering projects kind of degree, but being the manager of engineers is better than some of those idiot business degree people who somehow end up in charge of people who are 10X smarter than themselves Look at this link, and type in the search box for it any type of career you want to know of ( that isn't an engineering or architect field) : http://www.bls.gov/ooh/architecture-and-engineering/
