You only had 1 job at age 26 for 5 months. Most kids graduate by age 22, and unless you are a graduate student, then, you are way behind other people your age. Also, most kids while in high school and college, get part time jobs, working retail, fast food or restaurants to get extra money working in the summer and on school holidays. With no prior experience working, except this student job, and at your age, most employers will be hard pressed to hire you. I am guessing you are setting your job search too high, and since living at home, and no expenses, have no motivation to get a job, any job, so that maybe you could help out your mother with expenses, especially the financial set backs, which could have made her job easier. Apply at the website to see if you qualify.

If you cant afford the least expensive insurance plan (less than 8% of your income) on your state's exchange the IRS wont impose a tax penalty. The tax is imposed on those who can afford it and refuse to be insured. The IRS can only collect the tax if you have a refund coming. You cant apply for Medicaid since you are not head of household unless you move out by yourself. Your mother is head of household and is already otherwise covered. Open enrollment to get exchange insurance runs from January 1 through Mach 31, which is just before tax time. If you do want some insurance you can buy a cheaper catastrophic-care only plan with Obamacare. If you read the Obamacare website, it is explained in very clear language.

The amount your mother and brother earn has nothing to do with you. In completing an application for insurance there would not be a question about the family income. You are considered an individual adult that is 26 years of age in applying for insurance. You need to attempt to get on the government website to complete an application. Once you have provided the information requested, there would be a a default as to what you would be required to pay for a health plan or your lack of income would place you on a federal or state program that is of no cost to you. If you have questions about your qualification in obtaining health insurance, you may call and speak with a live person, who should be able to explain you or options. I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck. "FIGHT ON"
