For OS 10.9.1.... – Restart while holding command and R keys for 45 seconds. – Go past the language choice. – Select "Disk Utility". – Select the "Macintosh HD". – Select the "Erase" tab, and click "Erase". – When that's done, quit DU, and choose "Reinstall Mac OS X". No way I would do this, but that's what you ask, so that's how to do it. I would simply create a new admin account, and delete the original. All your stuff, settings, history, secret naughty things, are in the user account, so when you delete it, all your stuff goes, too. EDIT : "...10.8.5, is that any different?" No. <0-0>
