usually we get two copies, we sign one, and keep ther other for our records. The first line is for the tip the second line is the total, and third is were you sign. Whatever the total line says is what they are supposed to take out.

if they gave you a receipt to sign then they already swiped the card. you didn't do anything wrong in signing the receipt & leaving. check your account again, that charge is still pending & while it's pending the actual charge of the bill ($46) is going to show until they batch their charges at the end of the business day. when they do that then the tip will process & you transaction will show a charge of $52 instead of $46.

except for the fact that you left a pretty insufficient tip, you did everything correctly. the charge will change on your bank statement in about a week or so. ps- tipping at least 20% is customary nowadays, anything less is kind of an insult. next time splurge the extra 3 bucks and make it a $9 tip ;)

Aside from the fact that you left a cheap tip that is normal (should have been at least $9). The tip will be included in the total when it shows up on your account.

The tip comes out after everything is said and done. It usually does not come on your statement along with the bill. I would wait two days and see if it is there.
