Cut out Carbs. No bread, no rice, no man made foots like cake or brownies. Start making your own flaxseed bread. Try 40 carbs per day to start with. That is fairly low. See what happens. Do it for a few days... do it. You'll see. Play with the number of carbs per day after that. You may have to go lower or higher. http://www.diabetes.org/food-and-fitness/food/planning-meals/carb-counting/

Lose weight and exercise. Lose 20% of your body weight if you are heavy. So if you are 200lbs get to 160. Eat tiny amounts of higher protein foods more often like 6 almonds or an egg every couple of hours instead of a plate of food. Any grains need to be whole grains and very limited. Fruit should be lower carb fruit in small amounts like a half cup of cantaloupe or blueberries.

I have frequently been told that exercise will reduce your blood sugar faster than anything (well, except maybe a large dose of insulin). More exercise, the kind that works your big muscles (thighs especially), may help. Even push ups and sit-ups will work muscles, burn calories, build muscle. And the more muscle you have, the more calories it will burn, thus the more sugar and the more fat. So after awhile, you start getting less flabby and more muscular, even if the weight scale says you are staying the same or getting heavier. Don't worry about that, muscle weighs more than fat.
