Cardio. When combined, cardio and resistance training yield better results in a faster time than cardio or resistance training alone. Make sure your diet is in check (no fast food, junk food, limit the sugar). You still need to eat (you need food for energy to work out). The key thing is to limit the sugar and fat. You still need carbs, just don't overdo it. Look into resistance training methods. My favorite is circuit training because it exercises every body part and it is a tough cardio workout. As far as alternate cardio, try running, elliptical or swimming. Just make sure it's at least 20-30 minutes long and is at a 70-85% of your max heart rate.
