What you need to do is look up the address in the official UK government Land Registry, whose website is here: There may be a small fee.

UK Answer. From the Land Registry although there will be a charge. The Council will not tell you who owns it. Have you tried the near neighbours.

This will probably require visiting some government office. Finding out exactly where will require you to ask around--every locality is different. There are some bits of information that can't be called up online, believe it or not.

Ask the council who is registered as liable for council tax (even though its unoccupied council tax is still payable) Its possible they will tell you but it could be covered by the data protection act If they wont then give them you name and address and ask them to forward it to the person and ask them to contact you cos you are considering buying it)

Hi Robert, I am unsure of where public records are kept in the United Kingdom... here in the United States, we have County Clerks that maintain public records on things like who owns what property. It is a rather easy search of their database using the address or the legal description of the property, and up comes who owns it... most counties you can do it online. My guess is that you have something quite similar in the United Kingdom. Go to the city, county or any government office that is in charge of keeping public records for the area the house is located... they should have the information there (including contact information for the owner). Good luck! :) ~William
