Any white light will destroy ones night vision immediately. The younger one is the quicker it is restored. For a person in their 20's to 30's it can take 5 to 10 minutes to be regained In your 50's it can take up to 15 minutes to regain full night vision. The answer is very simple do not use white light at night. Use a dim red light or amber light, preferably a light whose intensity can be controlled by a dimmer switch.
