For starters you have a good backup plan since the odds are very much against you.

It's completely your choice what you want to do in life, and music is a very, very rewarding career. Your parents should merely act as advisers and shouldn't influence you to do something you don't want to do. The fact that you think your mum's voice is beautiful is very sweet of you given the fact that (as you said) she could mock your ambition to become a singer or mock your voice... However, the music industry is extremely tough to get into successfully and so you need a 'back-up' - a college degree of some sort or a 'side career' to keep you going - it could take years to get 'noticed' in music so it's (almost) understandable why your parents might not want you to pursue this, but your dream is your dream and you must go for it! Just make sure you have a 'back up' as insurance!! Perhaps you should show your mum this question as well as my answer - it may help her understand. Sometimes you might be surprised by what she would say about this... talk to her :)

It's great that you wish to pursue such a dream, but don't think that your mom is trying to put you down. If you want to put yourself out there, you should be willing to face MUCH MORE mocking and hate. Another thing is that the kpop industry is not easy at all. I suggest you reconsider your decision and do a lot of research. The life as a kpop idol isn't easy, you won't get a lot of rest, you'll be bounded by a strict contract, and there's just so much more. I suggest you go and watch this video and take a look at the links within it: And most importantly, I am NOT trying to stop you from pursuing your dream. I am telling you to reconsider.
