it is very difficult to quantify that as there are so many factors and variables that can either make or break the good opportunity. Usually the BIG deals are risk investments to startup or small businesses that has the potential to revolutionize the market, has social impact or can become a global company etc... For any business to become a "BIG investment opportunity" the following ( and other things ) need to take place: -The business idea itself: is there market for it and is the product / service scalable ? -The leader: does the business have enough vision and visionary leader ? -The team: can the team execute the plan ? -Financing: does the project get the necessary financing through equity funding or other means ? -Customer Engagement: Does the product solve real problem for the customers and can they manage to close important customer deals now and in the future? -Partners: all small companies require important partnership 'a giant' to help them to scale up? -Timing and Luck: you also need some of this in order to ensure the success of a company in short, the big opportunities are usually seed funding opportunities where you can purchase a large portion ( say 10-20% ) of the company equity with very little investment ( $5k-$200k ). 95% of new companies fail within the first 5 years. The remaining 5% will succeed but how big of an investment they are, it is impossible to say! the ration you are looking for could be 5-100 "You don't know what you don't know" good luck with your school project!
