400 lbs won't hurt anything. Look on the door jamb or in the owners manual on how much weight your vehicle can safely carry.

Its called payload. When the manufacturer rates payload it takes into account suspension and drivetrain etc. A Ford F150 is a half ton truck that is referring to payload, An F250 is a 3/4 ton truck so on and so forth. Payloads will differ on the same truck based on whether its 4x4 or two wheel drive (sometimes not all cases) So if a full size F150 payload is 1000 lbs then your mid size truck is probably a little less than that, Check it out in your owners manual to be sure. Google it to. Some manufacturers have even put 3/4 ton suspension on a half ton truck and called it an "SD" or "HD". In the 70-80s Chevy had a half ton truck like this called a "heavy half" Point is you just don't know till you check. Best thing to do is call your local Dodge store get on the phone with parts and give them your VIN (Vehicle ID Number) Ask what the specs are. Good Luck....Your payload should be around 1500 lbs max and towing max is around 6500 lbs tongue weight is 600-750 lbs..

The weight allowed is called payload. All of this information should be in the instructions provided with the vehicle from the factory. It is call the car manual or owner's manual. I am quite surprised as to the high number of people who do not this booklet exists. Everything comes with instructions. Vehicles are no different. This vehicle cam with two different size motors. Each motor has its own limit. It took me about .3300303300 seconds to locate the information. I suggest you do the same. Bye.

They are half ton trucks that means they can haul up to 1,000lb safely. 400lbs is a walk in the park for a truck.
