Any normal person would expect you to continue to apply to other places until you had a formal job offer. Taking the nanny job does not mean you have to stay there forever. You may quit after just a day if you want to. Jobs are a business arrangement. The employer would get rid of you without a qualm if they didn't need you any more. The employee has the same right to leave when it suits them.

Who cares if you quit the nanny job, just think that you will most likely never see that family ever again. Keep your options open Oceana! Think of yourself and not about being rude. They will find another nanny, if it wont be you.
