My significant other didn't propose to me, I proposed to her. We had been dating for about ten months. (married 30+ years now)

2 years dating. 1 yr engaged. 17 yrs married. You shouldn't marry someone until you feel you really know them and are completely comfortable around them. However long it takes!
Answer #3 | 28/12 2013 20:08
We dated for 16 months before getting engaged, and married 13 months after that. Your friend is right: four years is too long.
Answer #4 | 28/12 2013 20:24
6 years!! i think 4 years is good. But each to their own, you know when its the real thing.
Answer #5 | 28/12 2013 20:27
3 months. Married a month later. Still married 13 years later. 2 years was my general cut off range. If he doesn't know if I'm The One within 2 years then I'm not The One and it's time to move on.
Answer #6 | 28/12 2013 21:44
I think it was about 4 or 5 months, and then the engagement was 10 months before we married. Been married for 2 and a half years. :) We were mid-late 20s when we met.
Answer #7 | 28/12 2013 21:24
I dated my now husband for five years and although a lot of other people thought it was too long we constantly communicated and felt good about it! Tell your "freind" that they can do whatever feels right in their relationship but your relationship only has two people that get to decide when it's time to get married!
Answer #8 | 28/12 2013 20:41
We were together about 5 months. It was 10 months from first date until the wedding. We have been married 20+ years.
