Speeding points only count for 3 years, they just stay on your license for 5. After that ask for a new copy of your license, it will cost you 20 quid but it means you have a blank clean licence to present to insurance companies.

Hi sorry but you do need to declare them they will decide if you are still a problem.

After 3 years they do not count after 4 years you can apply to have them removed and after 5 years you do not have to declare them to insurers. Drink driving the removal is more severe. If you do not declare the points and the insurers find out you are guilty of a fundamental breach of contract. Insurers may cancel the contract or formally refuse to accept a renewal. You would have t declare that to your new company. That would cost you a heck of a lot more

Your insurer will ask you, "Have you had any penalty points on your driving licence in the last 5 years". Your answer will be, "Yes". Failure to disclose material facts when applying for insurance is an offence. Points on your licence are 'material facts'.

Read the question again., If you've had ANY convictions in the last five years, from your policy start date, you must declare them. Alternatively park you vehicle up on private property, declare it SORN and apply for insurance in March.
