I haven't seen the new one but from the reviews and the information around, it appears to share nothing with the original story apart from the name. I do enjoy the Danny Kaye version although that, too, is only loosely based on the book. The two films both move from the original premise of someone who makes their dull life bearable by using their imagination, to "action" films. This really spoils the original Thurber concept of the "little man" overwhelmed by life, who so often appears in Thurber fiction. Of the three versions, I would go for the short story as being best on any criteria.
