If you have ever watched "NCIS" then have somebody bytch slap you upside your head like Gibbs did to Tony and Tim. I image after about 2 weeks and 100 or so times of being slapped on the back of your head so you can realize you need to zip your pie hole as nobody gives a sh8t.

Nothing to really learn to stop doing. You just realize that someone out there might have it worse than you. Be thankful for what you already have and help others when needed (of course taking care of yourself first).

Whining is fine. As long as nobody has to listen to you. Write it in a journal and nobody will be bothered and it might cause you some relief. Some complaining can bring psychological relief, but it is a fine balance, for a negative attitude will cause extra problems whereas a positive attitude can motivate you to find solution. So maybe dedicate at least as much space in your journal for things you should be grateful for than whining and whine first and then end on a positive note.
