Take back the Craig and save for a Western Digital TV Play box. Much better.

I don't know for sure what you need to do but one thing I am sure of - if you can see the apps, then your HDTV is already on the correct "channel" (an HDMI Input, not a numbered TV channel) - you wouldn't be seeing the unit at all if you were on the wrong channel. Also, wouldn't it be great if advisers tried to answer your question instead of telling you to go get something else? Anyway, here are a couple of things you can try: First - it would be helpful to know the model # so I can tell I'm looking at the correct information, but I'm guessing it's a Craig CVD-601 - that's the number a search turned up. If so, you could try updating the firmware - here's the download site with instructions on how to do it (download Installation Guide below the Features and Specs): http://www.craigelectronics.com/site/pdetails.php?id=420 This page also has Contact info for Craig (Telephone: 1-866-321-7191 and a clickable email link) Then here is a discussion of the unit and how to get it working (about a third down the page is a link to a custom ROM that helped some users): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187502 This may be over your head if you weren't sure if you were on the right channel, but may hold your answer if you can figure it out. It's too complicated to explain here, but maybe you have a tech-savvy friend who could help - or just call Craig... Good luck!
