Incidents in the Cold War were brought into homes and this affected voters decisions when it came choosing a candidate for Congress, the Senate, or the presidency. One example was the Tet Offensive in 1968 during the Vietnam War. Television showed that what the generals and government had been telling the American public was untrue.
