With a quality synthetic motor oil any motor vehicle can be safely pushed to 10k miles before an oil change under normal driving conditions.

Check your manual again or call Ford. Not too sure about the 10,000.
Answer #3 | 19/12 2013 15:02
Yeah, its not just ford. I wouldn't go past 6-7k myself. That's just me

The manual says to go by the oil life meter, or 10,000 whichever comes first. Additionally, it states that of the oil life monitor fails then default to a 5K change cycle. When you get your oil changed, The interval for the next oil change is 10,000 miles. This is just affirmation that today's engines and oils are much better than they used to be.

The owner's manual on my 1965 Ranchero said I could go 8,000 miles between changes if I used the Ford oil filter (Rotunda?). Car manufacturers for many decades have prescribed to the theory that you are loyal to a brand; when your car breaks real bad, you will go down and buy a new F-150. Best advice is to continue with what works; use regular oil and change it every 3,000 miles. I have driven many cars to over 300,000 miles with 3,000 mile oil changes, the most recent using cheaper Walmart oil and whatever filter was cheap. I have bought used vehicles run their whole life on synthetic oil and they were worn out; in need of major repairs. All the cars I own are at least 18 years old.

The book calls for either 1 year or 10,000 miles. However I would not wait that long. I would probably have it changes between 6k-7k. Also it depends what kind of oil you are using. Synthetic will last you the longest.
Answer #7 | 20/12 2013 12:15
That's not a smart idea. Synthetic is better doesn't break down and lubricates better but Even with a good filter Still gets dirty your still pumping all that carbon all through your motor guarantee at 10000 miles your oils pitch black. I would stay close to 5-6 thousand miles.
Answer #8 | 20/12 2013 03:16
Probably because you are using synthetic oil. Oil doesn't wear out it just gets contaminated. IF you kept it clean you could use it indefinately.
