DVD doesn't have the capacity for full length HD recordings. Therefore, no DVD recorder exceeds 480P.

"How can I burn 720p movies or even 1080p?" By using a Blu-Ray burner and a BD-R. "How exactly can I do this?" See above. "As when I burn a 1080/720p movie it looks like 480p and loses it's quality?" That's because you are not using a Blu-Ray burner and a BD-R. "Let's say I have a 720p movie, how can I burn it to a dvd to ensure it keeps it's quality?" You can't. DVDs won't accept anything above 480p. If you want to keep the quality, you must use a Blu-Ray burner and a BD-R.

Don't burn it to DVD. Put it on a USB thumb drive as a high profile MP4 and play it on a Roku or a BluRay player that accepts USB inputs.
