I would prefer a DVD because of the burn speed options, but it's up to you.

.iso format is traditionally a STANDARD format for a CD or DVD copy (any format, size, etc). If the copy comes from a CD-RW, you can still copy it back to CD-R, DVD+R or DVD-R if you like. It's not bound to any format. If you have the file, you can mount them in Windows as a virtual drive to access the contents. Usually people use software like PowerISO or Daemon-tools to do so. You can also write the copy back to a CD with software like imgburn (free) or nero (paid), as well as PowerISO or Daemon-tools.
