It has something to do with y=mx+b, but I forget how to show the math. You are looking at the x and y coordinates of a line such that: if x=0, y=1.5 (the y-intercept) and if y=0, x=3 (the x-intercept) and the line has a slope of -0.5

These are the same equation, so there are infinitely many solutions for this one line. 2x + 4y = 6 <-- multiply this by 3 3x + 6y = 9 <-- multiply this by - 2   6x + 12y =   18 - 6x - 12y = - 18 ------------------------       0        =     0 Subtracting one equation from the other results in 0 because they are the same thing.
