Check to see what the file size is, you may be trying to save the finished video in a format that is enormous. I'm not sure how it's done in other versions of Powerpoint but in Powerpoint 2010 in the "File" tab there is an option to render the video in a lower quality format; get the settings right and the reduction in quality will be minor.

Umm, sorry if you do not want to download something to do it, but try Bandicam. Change the audio recording device to Stereo Mix though. If you do not have Stereo Mix on the recording devices, do this: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/39532/how-to-enable-stereo-mix-in-windows-7-to-record-audio/ The software itself can be downloaded at www.bandicam.com. If the presentation is over 10 minutes, simply record a second part, and join it using http://download.cnet.com/Free-AVI-MPEG-WMV-MP4-FLV-Video-Joiner/3000-13631_4-75290164.html
