I did a little research and it seems that particular model will max out at 2gb. Which isnt uncommon. Older computers didnt use that much ram. If you want to upgrade, thats up to you but not just any old 2gb chip will work. It has to be adaptable to that model.

The max for that computer is 2gb, PC3200 DDR SDRAM DIMMs- 533MHz FSB. If you decide to add a separate video card the full 2gb's you will have the full 2gb's of ram to work with (as RAM is used for the on-board video). That 2gb of ram will cost about $40.

A 32-bit system will read 4 GB of ram. But will only use like 3.18 to 3.5 GB of that ram. Now a 64-bit system will read 8, 16, and some even 32 GB. Most computers now days come with a 64-bit system. To check and see what your system is, click Start Right click on computer scroll down and click on properties. There it should show you what you have.
