Health insurance covers maternity. In NC, I believe you have about one company to choose from.

There are actually several different companies that have over a dozen plans amongst them in N.C. They all have maternity coverage, but the plans that have the lowest out of pocket charges will cost you around $350 per month. You'll want to speak with an agent that know that plans available in your area. There is no charge using an agent. Since you have access to a group policy you won't qualify for the subsidy no matter what your income.

To get maternity, you're going to have to buy coverage through your state exchange. It might be slightly cheaper, but just wait until you see what the deductibles are going to run you! Go talk to a local broker. They can walk you through it. But beware - if you thought that the cost to add you to his employer's plan - likely $300 a month or less - was "expensive", you're in for REAL sticker shock when you see how much it's going to cost stand alone.
