In theory, it will not do any damage to your car. Your starter will get all the amps it need to start. Your alternator might be a different matter. It will always be trying to charge the battery and probably shorten its life. But it also maybe the other way around, the battery is always fresh and the alternator will not be charging as much, Electrical engineers out there would have a definite answer.

The higher capacity battery gives you more reserve energy, ie. if you are drawing ten amps and you have a 600 amp battery then the thing will last you 60 minutes before needing a recharge. To put a larger capacity battery on your car or truck doesn't hurt anything.
